Clear

Why We Love ‘Em

Thousands of frequent travelers say that traveling with Clear has dramatically upgraded their airport experience. Forget about checking (and rechecking) your pockets for your ID and boarding pass — Clear uses distinct biomarkers like your fingerprints, eyes, and face to get you through security checkpoints at airports, sporting events, and concert venues in the quickest (and safest) way possible.

How They Got Started

When co-founder and CEO Caryn Seidman Becker joined Clear in 2010, she first aimed to scale Clear’s mission. Although Clear’s technology had previously been focused solely on airport security, Seidman Becker’s vision was much broader: to build a safer, more secure world to live, work and play. This vision began to take shape when she and co-founder Ken Cornick launched the version of Clear that we know and love today — a platform that turns biometrics into a digital passcode to provide seamless access for flights, concerts, sporting events, and much more. As the world becomes more travel-focused than it has been in over 12 months, the team at Clear is seeing tremendous opportunities for expansion, and they’re just getting started.

Funding

Since 2015, Clear has secured $135 million in funding across 6 rounds.

Who They’re Looking For

Working at Clear means working alongside a group of talented, passionate professionals who strive to make the world more connected and secure each day. As their team scales operations across the board, they’re hiring new team members in Customer Success, Finance, Growth, Marketing, and more.

Evolve

Why We Love ‘Em

Evolve was born out of a simple mission: to make vacation rentals easy for guests, owners, and anyone who comes across their platform. After all, vacation gives us a chance to reconnect with the things and people we love the most, dive into a new side of ourselves, and bring levity to life. The journey to get there shouldn’t be so tumultuous. Evolve was founded to give that “vacation feeling” not just to the actual trip, but to the entire booking experience. By booking a vacation home through Evolve, renters get the lowest rates, a quick and simple booking experience, professionally cleaned, private vacation rentals, and 24/7 guest support.

How They Got Started

The idea for Evolve sprung up in 2011 during a brainstorming session between two hospitality veterans (coincidentally, in a basement). Co-founders Brian Egan and Adam Sherry knew that vacation rentals were going to be huge — however, the current experience felt less than ideal for renters, homeowners, and booking agents alike. They realized that homeowners either had to hire an overpriced property manager or spend hours handling all of the work alone. In the same way, guests struggled to find rentals that met their standards and offered support. Egan and Sherry knew that there was a better solution — a more modern approach to vacation rentals — and Evolve was born.

Funding

Since 2013, Evolve has secured $124 million in funding across 5 rounds.

Who They’re Looking For

Evolve’s team of geographically dispersed go-getters is always growing, and as they approach this next major season of growth, they’re looking for some high-achieving colleagues to join them. Right now, they’re looking for new talent to join them in Customer Experience, Marketing, People, Property Acquisition, and more.

Hopper

Why We Love ‘Em

Backed by some of the world’s leading investors, Hopper is combining the smartest data technology with simple booking AI to bring you the cheapest flights of a lifetime. At its core, Hopper works as a prediction algorithm, processing trillions of travel-related data points and enabling the most precise, personalized travel recommendations to every user. Utilizing the most relevant data available, Hopper makes sure that when the best travel deals arrive, you’re the first to know.

How They Got Started

Hopper founder and CEO Frederic Lalonde started his first company — Newtrade — at 19 and sold it to Expedia in 2002. At this point, Lalonde had a finger firmly on the pulse when it comes to the changing world of travel. After spending a while in the travel industry, Lalonde learned a lot about its limitations. There was a central thesis at play: this consumer category has many anxieties and gatekeepers — why not blow it wide open with trust and transparency? With this intuition, he recognized what the travel industry was missing: a mobile-only platform with complete opacity when it comes to data, trends, and flight prices. By founding Hopper, Lalonde carved a niche for travelers with a modern, transparent travel booking experience.

Funding

Since 2008, Hopper has secured $423.7 million in funding across 9 rounds.

Who They’re Looking For

If you’re excited to help travelers see much more of the world they love (at the lowest possible price) you might find your career home at Hopper. As they revamp operations and gear up for a major comeback year, Hopper is looking for excited, talented team members to join them. Right now, they’re hiring in multiple locations across Business Development, Engineering, Product, Operations, and much more.

Hostfully

Why We Love ‘Em

As one of the top rental management platforms around, Hostfully provides a complete end-to-end rental platform that increases bookings and boosts revenues for rental owners. They’ve streamlined the workflow that comes along with managing vacation rentals, Hostfully empowers property managers to provide 5-star hospitality at scale with added affordability and ease. Because the best travel experiences get people closer to local experiences, Hostfully gives property managers the tools to transform the local experience for each and every guest.

How They Got Started

Hostfully was founded in 2015 as a collective effort by co-founders David Jacoby, Margot Schmorak, Noah Neiman, Stephan Osmont, and Tom Nielsen. When speaking about the inspiration for Hostfully, co-founder David Jacoby recalls a trip he took with his wife in 2010. They traversed over 27 countries in 5 continents, staying in 38 different homes along the way. Upon returning home, Jacoby realized how much of their trip was influenced by their host — anything the host recommended was at the top of the list. Jacoby and his wife returned home to San Francisco and before long, began hosting guests in their own home with sites like Airbnb. A couple of things soon became evident: first, it’s tough to have a full-time job while providing consistent five-star hospitality. On the flipside, it’s a pretty cool experience when guests take your recommendations, visit your favorite local coffee shops, restaurants, etc. and have an amazing time. Jacoby thought that while there are plenty of rental sites that focus on securing the booking, there are so few tools to help hosts provide a best-in-class experience. Hostfully was built to change that.

Funding

Since 2016, Hostfully has secured $1.6 million in funding across 5 rounds.

Who They’re Looking For

As Hostfully works to bring personality and efficiency to the vacation rental experience, they’re ramping up operations across their company and looking for talented team members to pitch in. As they scale their team, they’re looking for top talent to join them in Social Media, Development, and Sales.

Miles

Why We Love ‘Em

Even when you’re not taking a flight, you’re moving. Traditional travel rewards track your flyer miles, but Miles is here to reward you for all of the time traveled in between, whether you’re in the air, taking a taxi, or even just riding your bike to work. By joining Miles, you rack up points for every step earned via ground transportation, which can then be traded for rewards and gift cards. When racking up points with miles, biking, walking, and ride sharing are worth far more than the flight-based rewards we’re used to.

How They Got Started

Miles was founded in 2016 by Jigar Shah, Paresh Jain, and Parin Shah. Not only were the co-founders natural entrepreneurs, but also frequent travelers. The disparity in rewards for those who can afford airfare and those who rely on more affordable modes of transportation was glaring. The founders discovered an opportunity to boost equity in travel with a solution: a platform that rewards users for walking, riding a bike, or even hopping in an Uber. The idea was to incentivize people toward eco-friendly travel and create a basis for inclusion. By rewarding users for their regular commute, Miles removes travel-based exclusions and gives back, even if you’re just walking to work.

Funding

Since 2016, Miles has secured $19.9 million in funding across 6 rounds.

Who They’re Looking For

The team at Miles is passionate about making all types of travel more rewarding, and they’re looking for new team members who share this mission! As they scale operations across the country, Miles is looking for new team members in Sales, Design, Client Success, Engineering, and more.

Wanderu

Why We Love ‘Em

Meet Wanderu — their platform provides the cheapest, easiest way to compare and book buses, trains, and flights all over North America and Europe. The folks at Wanderu know that while most of us crave adventure, the traditional booking method involves several hoops to jump through (and several hundred dollars to spend) before reaching your destination. Booking through Wanderu guarantees you’re getting the fastest trip at the lowest price, booked in minutes. Their seamless platform and catalog of destinations promises to take travelers near and far without any headache.

How They Got Started

Co-founders Eddy Wong, Igor Bratnikov, Polina Raygorodskaya brought together their travel experiences and big ideas to found Wanderu in 2012. The story that sparked the idea starts early on, when Raygorodskaya, a budding entrepreneur, commuted long hours by train and bus all over the Northeast to meet with clients. During these long hours, she was frustrated that there wasn't a single website where you could figure out the cheapest and most efficient routes (unless you’re flying). While traveling, she struggled with separate ticketing systems and a complete lack of transparency. "You could find anything else on the internet, but you couldn't get from point A to point B using non-air transportation," said Raygorodskaya. After teaming up with Wong and Bratnikov, she realized that this frustration wasn’t hers alone — and the team set out to build the solution that would make booking a train or bus just as easy (and much cheaper) than booking a flight.

Funding

Since 2012, Wanderu has secured $8.1 million in funding across 3 rounds.

Who They’re Looking For

The team at Wanderu is made up of big thinkers who move quickly, and this team is working toward big goals in 2021 and beyond. As they work to make ground travel more affordable and accessible, Wanderu is looking for dedicated rockstars who share their mission to join them. Right now, they’re scaling their team across Digital Marketing, Brand, Product, Engineering, and more.
