The SEO Alternative Investments team’s mission is to promote diversity in the alternatives sector by providing education, access, and career development opportunities to both young and experienced professionals who are traditionally underrepresented in the alternative investments sector.


The Alternative Investments Resident helps support various aspects of the SEO’s AI programming with a primary focus on strengthening the coaching and mentoring model around working with those interested in the alternative investments space.

This role will give you the opportunity to directly interact with those interested in entering the alternative investments industry in addition to providing you with immense opportunity to continue to develop the existing programming model to have a greater impact on helping increase diversity in the alternative investments industry. The role also provides the candidate with unparalleled exposure and access to our partner firms such as KKR, TPG, Carlyle, Oaktree, etc.

The role requires a minimum of 1-year commitment. This is a great role for a candidate applying to or attending a top MBA program in the next year; past Residents have gone on to attend Harvard Business School and the Wharton School. However, the role is not limited to those looking to go to business school.

  • Serve as trusted and strategic partner to the VP of Alternative Investments and the Alternative Investments team
  • Provide industry knowledge and experience as the team strengthens its programming increase diversity in the alternative investments space
  • Support in the overall selection of fellows in the Alternative Investments Fellowship Program (AIFP), including marketing, screening, and interviewing
  • Mentor and coach underrepresented young professionals as they prepare to enter the alternative investments industry and the fellows in the AIFP to foster their professional growth and their connection to SEO
  • Participate in regular trainings, networking opportunities, breakfast meetings, etc. to further develop the fellows in the AIFP
  • Support activities leading up to and the day of SEO Alternative Investments Conference
  • Other relevant duties as assigned

  • Technological Capability - Proficient in the use of computer technology including Microsoft Office


  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • At least 2 years of Investment Banking experience
  • At least 1 year of Private Equity experience preferred
  • Ability to empathize with colleagues and individuals from a range of backgrounds and experiences
